i can't even tell you how excited i was to see the gossip last night at the regency ballroom in sf. they were my summer crush. i think i played their new album 'music for men' every day. such catchy good electro dance rock. and pretty anthemic too considering how much the crowd sang along to just about every song.

they came out strong and didnt really let up the whole night. beth ditto claimed she was horse and losing her voice, but you wouldn't have ever thought so considering how strong she sounded. the girl can fucking sing. and the band.. shit they were just as strong. i had as much fun watching them play as i did watching beth sing.

there was lots of banter and stories between songs which normally get on my nerves but beth was pretty funny the whole time. sharing stories and self deprecating jokes. (she not only acknowledged that she looked like ursula from the lil mermaid but that that was the look she was going for. hehe.)

anyway. some highlights included: jd samson (from le tigre & men, the opening act) joining the band on keyboards and vocals for the what's love got to do with it cover & the bikini kill's rebel girl cover. the encore where beth climbs the speaker and stirs the crowd in a frenzy for standing in the way of control. just watch all the videos. everything was awesome.

i had so much fun last night. just dancing and rockin out to the gossip. not only cause they played great, but they also gave a lot of love back to the crowd. and they totally had a great time playing for us.
