i haven't seen the roots perform in almost 5 years. i went from seeing them at least once a year to not at all. we just kept missing each other. so when i heard they were playing the warfield on new years eve, i got tix right away. i was not about to miss them this time.
we were a lil apprehensive about seeing a show on new years as we knew most of our good friends wouldn't be there and new years is all about being with those closest to you and planning your next steps.

but luckily, our friends dv & jas decided to go with us. so it was my original roots crew going to see the legendary roots crew. we found a great lil spot on the floor where we could just hang out and enjoy the show in peace. it was awesome. as was the show and the rest of the night.
the roots put on an amazing show. which is not surprising considering they put on some of the best shows i've been to. and now with their gig on jimmy fallon, they're even tighter. the band had fun dancing and playing around on stage and never missed a beat. black thought spat fire while pacing the stage like a panther and ?uestlove ruled all, perched high above on his throne, i mean drum kit. they played classics like "you got me", "proceed", "the seed" and new jams like "how i got over" to covers of "sweet child o mine". we ate it all up.

all in all a pretty great show. and if the rest of 2010 is half as good as how we rung in the new year, it's gonna be one helluva a year.
here's some videos of the show to help your 2010.
